Clearline is a proud member of the National Utility Locating Contractors Association, which aims to establish and maintain competent practices for locating underground utilities. They also provide training and accreditation which we have partaken in and received.
How do we do it?
Clearline uses professional utility locating tools to detect underground pipes and cables before excavation. One of which is the handheld device in this photo - which uses electromagnetic fields (EMF) to trace conductive materials. By accurately identifying location and depth, it helps prevent utility damage, and ensures worker safety.

BYDA
Before You Dig Australia (previously Dial Before You Dig) is a free referral service that provides information about the location of underground utilities. This is a very useful service, but Clearline uses BYDA plans as a guide and as a guide only, as these plans are often inaccurate in the placement of underground assets and often do not include all underground assets in the area.

EMF locating (described above). Rodding conduits (this allows us to locate non-metallic pipes by pushing a traceable rod up conduits). Potholing (exposing pipes and cables by digging). All our work corresponds with BYDA, NULCA, and AS5488 regulations and locating practices. Providing worksite safety is paramount and fundamental to this business.
